I just sent in a donation via PayPal in honor of the 4th anniversary of our adoption of Chloe & Roux. We love our sweet girls and they have us very well trained. I'm attaching a recent photo. Roux's ruff seems to get bigger every winter.

Peppy, formerly Caruso, Adopted December 2011
We changed Caruso named to "Peppy" ....he is just so active!!! He is doing AMAZING!!! He just adjusted right away. He has taken over the house, he does not like to take pictures, or at least I cannot get a good one of him. The vet says he is doing well he has gained 2 pounds since we got him.. I think he is just a little spoiled and he expects his treat when he does his business outside..... he is just a happy puppy/dog.... we just love him to death..
Roger takes him to work EVERYDAY... and he visits with anybody that comes in. He does not like the kennel, so he does not have to stay in it......
He loves my grandchildren and they love him! He sleeps on a "temperpedic" pillow every night....that's what you call has it made!!
I don't know what we done before Peppy!! Life was boring!!

Reggie, formerly Charley, Adopted August 2011
Charley is doing great. I renamed him Reggie and now everyone thinks I named him after reggie bush, but the name just seemed to fit him. He is very well behaved, listens really well, comes when I call him, retrieves the ball but would rather hang from the neck of my other dog. I thought he was going to be a big black lab (my other dog is a yellow lab, I love the breed) but he is way smaller than she is though he weighs only 13 pounds less...he's up to 52! and I believe he has stopped growing. He is a wonderful friend to my other lab and it all worked out very well. I don't have any pictures of him cause he never stops moving. I have never seen him sleeping, no matter what ridiculous hour I go into the kitchen for amidnite snack. And it only took to the end of the street for him to figure out how to heel. He is an absolute angel and I am so glad yall found him for me. Well, angel to me and Isabel. He really harasses the cats, and one of them gets back at him by sitting on top of his kennel just to drive him crazy. But we are all getting along fine. If I do manage to get a picture of him, I'll send it on.
Thanks for all yall do for our pups.
Jasmine, formerly Coco, Adopted December 2011
We thought you would like to see some pictures of Jasmine (Coco). She is such a happy dog full of love and energy, she loves her brothers George (the big kahuna, he is 15, mastiff, shepard mix) and Angelo (Chiwiennie) .Her and Angelo play together all day till evening when they fall asleep cuddling together. She loves everyone that walks through are door and is not shy to be the fist to get attention. At first Jasmine (Coco) had trouble with using the bathroom either on a pee pee pad or outside, but after a few months and watching her brothers, she is accident free. Jasmine (Coco) is so smart and needs only to be told once, she is a very good listener. She loves to run in the yard and on the beach and visit with other dogs and people. We want to thank you again for bringing her into our lives and making our family whole. Jasmine (Coco) is the joy of our life and we are one greatful family. Keep up the excellent work that you do, everyday a dog is saved like Jasmine, and put into a good home makes a much better world and give our furry kids another chance in life that they very much deserve!!!
Roxy - Adopted December 2011
Roxy is doing great! She has brought so much joy to our family. She's done great with her potty training and has had no accidents since we got her! She is still a little nervous/hesitnat when any new men come around, besides her "daddy" (my husband) of course; but she always warms up. Her and my 2 year old son have became best friends and Roxy has became his "protector". She even sleeps in her bed at the foot of my son's bed! We are so blessed to have found your organization and Roxy.

Lola
My husband and I had adopted a black lab from another shelter in the area a little over a year ago. We were happy with our one dog and one cat. We had no desire to add another animal to our family.
Because of our two animals, we would frequent Pet Smart on a regular basis to pick up food. We would always end up going on Saturdays to the store on Seigen. Naturally, we would go walk by all the dogs APAWS had for adoption just for some entertainment.
Well, one Saturday I saw a little golden retriever puppy with no adoption sheet on her crate and a sign that said not to put your fingers in the crate. This caught my attention and I took one glimpse at her and felt an instant connection. I made myself keep walking, purchased what I needed and walked out of the store with my husband.
The whole day I kept thinking about her and the day turned into the whole rest of the week. I decided I HAD to go see her again the next Saturday and sure enough my husband, and I left the store with her in tow.
She must have felt the instant connection as well, because her foster mom warned us that she is very timid around strangers. She growls, barks, even fear bites. And she had done this to everyone who tried to pet her. From the moment we were introduced to her at Petsmart, she showed no signs of timidness. She licked me and let me pet her all over. My husband even picked her up, and she licked his face. She was meant to be ours.
She instantly adapted to her new family. It’s like she had lived with us her whole life. Here are some random pictures of Lola with her siblings. - Submitted by Beth Inzenga

A Poem for Cole
My name is Cole
My first human only wanted me for money and image
Not for the love I wanted to give
When my human grew tired he threw me away
In a busy parking lot I laid
Skinny and thirsty, too week to move
I watched as people passed by
Pretending they didn't see
pretending that there was no dog laying nearly dead by a tree
Then a woman stopped to look at me
but then she ran back to her car and drove away
And so I laid there alone thinking this was the end
Sad and tried under that tree
Thinking that no one would ever see all the love I could give
