Mischa's name is now Lela since she started her new life with us. My husband wanted to give her his mother's name and I like his idea also. We live in the country and Lela was afraid of everything including the grass. She hid under our bed at first. I put a dog bed under there to make sure she was comfortable. After a few days she decided to sleep on the foot of our bed.
She was afraid of the chickens and goats until she discovered they were more afraid of her. The picture below is her discovering how much fun it is to dig in the dirt.
She is such a treasure to both of us. It is hard to believe anyone could abandon her.
Thank you so much for saving her for us.

Prince (formerly Romeo) - Adopted September 2013
Attached is a picture of Romeo but we have renamed him Prince. He has really long legs but you cannot see them in this photo. He really likes to bite on our 10 year old lab's legs. So far the lab has tolerated it.
Tyger (formerly Buddy) - Adopted June 2013
Here are some updates of buddy :)
We actually renamed him Tyger
He is incredibly cuddly and sweet
His favorite toy is his tennis ball
He's protective and an awesome family dog

Zoe (formerly Sadie) - Adopted November 2012
I can’t believe it has been a year- it feels like Zoe (formerly Sadie) has been a part of our family all along! She is doing great! The last time I sent an update was in March and we were fighting mange. I am very happy to say we are now mange free and haven’t had any health issues at all! She's a happy, happy girl and now that we have moved to our new home she has a giant yard that she loves to spend her days running around chasing bugs, birds, squirrels and shadows!
I won’t ever be able to express my gratitude to APAWS for rescuing Zoe. At our first checkup, the veterinarian approached her to begin her exam and Zoe ran under the exam table and hid in her urine for nearly 30 minutes until we could coax her out with treats. The great news was she was healthy but the sad news was the vet told me it was obvious she had been abused. She gave me advice for helping Zoe feel comfortable in her new home and told me it may take some time for her to warm up.
Zoe has all the reason in the world not to trust people yet she is the gentlest, calmest and most loving dog I have not only ever had but honestly ever met.
Thank you again for saving her and trusting me with her! Here a some pictures- I practically have millions :)
Karma (formerly Molly) - Adopted May 2013
Thank you for your email regarding Molly. She is doing wonderfully! She and I communicated for around four weeks and finally decided her new name would be Karma.
Karma now is healthy, happy and enjoying life. She has brought a new energy to my home. She loves to run - which my grandchildren enjoy. They all run in big circles with each other! It's a hoot to watch.
She is still timid but hopefully with more time she will begin to open up. Took her a while to realize she will now sleep with me. But once she got in the swing of things, she loves it - sleeps right by my head!
I've been taking pics and will post on Facebook. The groomer loves her. Karma always comes home bright eyed after she has been there. I think Karma likes the bows in her hair!
Thanks to your wonderful organization for being part of Karma and I finding each other. She is a much loved part of my family.

Zelda - Adopted June 2012
We adopted our dog from ya'll June of last year. Her name at the time was Ruby, but we renamed her Zelda. And it fits, let me tell you - she is zany Zelda! We've never had a funnier dog than her. She always looks like she's laughing, and she is the sweetest dog in the world. I promised her foster mom I'd send some pictures, so here they are, a little late. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to add this amazing animal to our lives! We love her so much!
